On the Daily.

Maybe it’s a little much to be so emotionally invested in NaBloPoMo but here’s the thing: it rocked.

Never before in the life of this blog have I ever posted for 30 continuous days. Shit. Never before have I posted 7 continuous days!

This is a big deal for a variety of reasons, but really because for me, it means I take this place seriously. And in turn, it means I’m starting to take me seriously.

I’ve wrestled a lot with what this blog means to me. What it is. What it will be. And what I want it to be. I started writing because it felt good to get the stuff that was stuck in my head out, by way of my fingertips. And then somewhere, I don’t know where exactly, it turned into something I loved to do.

Writing became something I fantasized about. That’s big.

And so over the course of the last 2 years, but especially this last year, as my dreams for writing have grown and blossomed, I grew more and more insecure about it. Thus, I started writing less and less. Thus, I started taking me, my love for writing, my ability to write less and less seriously.

And here’s the thing:

I don’t expect to become some famous superstar out of this. In fact, that’s never even been a part of the dream.

What I want is to bring people together. To make connections. To say things; inspiring things.

And for me, the challenge of NaBloPoMo pushed me to do the thing that scares me: write. put it out there. connect.

So yeah, maybe it’s a bit overdramatic to say NaBloPoMo changed my life. But guys, it sort of did.

Here’s to doing the damn thing.

The Real One. I hope this is true.

Also, Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art, is one of my absolute favorites. It’s amazing. I’ve mentioned on here before but seriously, if you’re an artist of any kind, it’s worth a read. You’ll thank me later.

And want to marry Steven.

True story.

I think this is awesome. If you got THAT out of NaBloPoMo, then it had a real purpose, not just being able to crank out 30 posts in 30 days :)

Yes. I didn’t want to be post-mill, lol. I think the community surrounding it, and those I’ve just connected with recently (like you!) have made all the difference :)
