On Snow Fairies.

I love watching children.

They’re fearless; they haven’t learned to be afraid yet.  They dance without embarrassment.  They laugh without wondering if it’s okay.  They tell the truth even when it seems like it shouldn’t be said.  They dream.

They DREAM.  So big.

When did we stop doing that?  In what class did we learn that?

When did we start being afraid and embarrassed?  When did we start questioning ourselves and whether the truth was appropriate?  When did we stop dreaming and imagining and just being the purest, most beautiful beings that we were born to be?

While on a trip back to California this year I got to watch the two most amazing little girls I’ve ever been lucky enough to have in my life – I’ve watched them both grow up.  And proudly I say, I’ve made impacts on their lives and they’ve made impacts on mine.  Great ones.  And while playing outside in the sunshine the oldest one looked at me with total amazement and said, “Look!  It’s a Snow Fairy!”  I stopped myself from telling her that it was actually just a dandelion.  Instead I smiled at her and widened my eyes and said, “MY!  I’ve never seen one before…she’s beautiful!”  And then she skipped off happily to catch another Snow Fairy.

I watched her and smiled and found that I was in awe – and maybe even a little bit jealous – because I wish that I saw Snow Fairies.

I wish I still dreamed with that much freedom.  With that much confidence.

Snow Fairies.

Catching Snow Fairies.

Don’t forget to look for Snow Fairies.
